Think you’ve taken a trophy-class animal? Our network of certified volunteer measurers, located throughout Wisconsin, can officially score your whitetail, black bear, elk, or wolf to Boone & Crockett and Pope & Young standards. Get your trophy officially scored
How Measuring Works
- Antlers and skulls require a 60-day drying period before official measuring.
- Contact a certified measurer in your area to arrange a measuring session.
- If your trophy meets the minimum score, it can be entered into the official Wisconsin record book for a recording fee of $20.
Before Contacting a Measurer
A little prep makes the process smoother — for you and for the volunteer measurer donating their time. Before you reach out, it helps to have the following ready:
- Your scheduling availability. Have a few dates and times in mind. Coordinating schedules is the single biggest hurdle for our volunteer measurers, so coming ready with options is the fastest way onto the calendar.
- The date you harvested your animal. Antlers and skulls need to naturally-dry for 60 days from harvest before they can be officially scored, so your harvest date tells the measurer when your trophy will be eligible.
- A field or trophy photo. Especially for whitetails, a quick photo helps the measurer gauge how involved the scoring will be and set expectations for how long the appointment should take.
- The current state of the trophy. Let them know whether it’s a shoulder mount, European mount, skull plate, etc. — it affects how the trophy is handled and measured.
- Fair-chase confirmation. Entries must be taken under fair-chase rules, and you’ll be asked to sign a fair-chase affidavit — good to know going in.

Our official measurers are volunteers who give hunters across the state a place to have their trophies scored close to home. It’s a rewarding way to give back to the sport, connect with fellow hunters, and play a hands-on role in preserving Wisconsin’s hunting heritage.
